人家  

rén jia   

in Chinese usually means “others” or the people who have been mentioned. It always has a positive connotation.

 

人家的孩子多聪明!

rénjiade háizi duō cōngming !
How clever his kid is!

 

为什么人家能找到好工作,你却不能?

wèishénme rénjiā néng zhăodào hăogōngzuò , nĭ què bùnéng ?

How can others find a job, but you can’t?

 

 

Adjective +于   

yú  

+numbers expresses comparison.

 

上个季度的营业额高于10万。

shàngge jìdùde yíngyèé gāoyú shíwàn 。

The turnover from last quarter was higher than 100.000 yuan.

 

这个湖里的水深于20米。

zhège húlĭde shuĭ shēnyú èr shí mĭ 。

This lake is deeper than 20 meters.

 

 

并(且)  

bìng(qiě)      

means "moreover" . It can be used to connect verbs. In this structure, the two verbs used are equal to each other with neither being primary nor secondary. Notice that "并且 bìngqiĕ " is used with verbs, unlike "和  hé  " which is used with nouns.

 

她去了美国,并且再也不会回来了。

tā qùle mĕiguó , bìngqiĕ zàiyĕ búhuì huílai le 。

She has gone to America, and she won’t come back anymore.

 

我们要分析原因,并且总结教训。

wŏmen yào fēnxī yuányīn , bìngqiĕ zŏngjié jiàoxun 。

We need to analyze the reason, and learn from the experience.

 

….也好, …..也罢  

yĕ hăo...yĕ bà     

construction means "either A or B". It is usually spoken to show indifference when facing two options or when the choice really doesn't matter.

 

你在公司加班也好,去健身房锻炼也罢,都没有和我在一起。

nĭ zài gōngsī jiābān yĕhăo , qù jiànshēnfáng duànliàn yĕbà , dōu méiyŏu héwŏ zàiyìqĭ 。

No matter you work over time in your company, or go to the gym. You are not with me.

 

你走也好,留也罢,都和我没关系。

nĭ zŏu yĕhăo , liú yĕbà , dōu hé wŏ méiguānxi 。

Either you leave or stay, it doesn’t matter to me.
